How to Install the DHCP Service

1. Click Start, point to Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs. 
2. In the Add or Remove Programs dialog box, click Add/Remove Windows Components.
3.  In the Windows Components Wizard, click Networking Services in the Components list, and then click Details.
4.  In the Networking Services dialog box, click to select the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) check box, and then click OK.
5.  In the Windows Components Wizard, click Next to start Setup.
6. Insert the Windows Server 2003 CD-ROM into the computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive if you are prompted to do so. Setup copies the DHCP server and tool files to your computer.
7.  When Setup is completed, click Finish.

How to Configure the DHCP Service

After you have installed the DHCP service and started it, you must create a scope, which is a range of valid IP addresses that are available for lease to the DHCP client computers on the network.

How to Create a New Scope

1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click DHCP.
2. In the console tree, right-click the DHCP server on which you want to create the new DHCP scope, and then click New Scope.
3. In the New Scope Wizard, click Next, and then type a name and description for the scope. This can be any name that you want.Click Next.
4. Type the range of addresses that can be leased as part of this scope (for example, use a range of IP addresses from a starting IP address of 192.168.10.1 to an ending address of 192.168.10.50).Subnet mask will be automatically added.Click Next.
5. Type any IP addresses that you want to exclude from the range that you entered. This includes any addresses in the range described in step 4 that may have already been statically assigned to various computers in your organization. Typically, domain controllers, Web servers, DHCP servers, Domain Name System (DNS) servers, and other servers, have statically assigned IP addresses.For example we can exclude IP from (192.168.10.5 to 192.168.10.15) Click Add then Click Next.
6. Type the number of days, hours, and minutes before an IP address lease from this scope expires. This determines how long a client can hold a leased address without renewing it. Click Next 
7. If you dont want to configure DNS and Default Gateway address you can stop process here by selecting NO,I will configure this options later and Click Next and Click Yes, I want to activate this scope now to activate the scope and allow clients to obtain leases from it, and then click Next.Click Finish.
8. If you want to configure DNS and Default Gateway you can click Yes, I want to configure these options now  . Click Next.
9. Type the IP address for the default gateway that should be used by clients that obtain an IP address from this scope. Click Add to add the default gateway address in the list, and then click Next.
10. If you are using DNS servers on your network, type your organization's domain name in the Parent domain box. Type the name of your DNS server, and then click Resolve to make sure that your DHCP server can contact the DNS server and determine its address. Click Add to include that server in the list of DNS servers that are assigned to the DHCP clients. Click Next, and then follow the same steps if you are using a Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS) server, by adding its name and IP address. Click Next.
11. Click Yes, I want to activate this scope now to activate the scope and allow clients to obtain leases from it, and then click Next.
12. Click Finish.
13. In the console tree, click the server name, and then click Authorize on the Action menu.

Tutorial for Installing Windows XP

Installing/Re-installing Windows XP is a relatively straightforward process providing you have everything you need to hand

Make sure that you have all the things mentioned below is with you

# Windows XP CD.
# Windows XP CD Product Code Number.
# Any relevant drivers - this is not always the case as XP does have many drivers.However, it may be necessary to   update the driver that XP initially installs. Be particularly careful with Modem drivers.
# Make sure that your PC can boot from your CD-ROM.

Here are the steps to boot from CD-drive

1. First choose your primary boot from CD
For this while starting computer press "delete" or F2 button[This depends on type of BIOS in your computer] contionusly and enter in BIOS.There you can see a screen like below

 If you are seeing the first screen go to  "Boot" in the Top menu or if you are seeing the second screen go "Advanced BIOS Features" and press enter.After that you can choose "First bootable device" as [CDROM]

Then press F10 and press "OK" or "y" to save and exit.Then your computer will restart.Put your Bootable CD into drive.While starting your computer will show a message to "press any key to boot from CDROM"

 

Press any Key to move forward. Set up will now automatically inspect your computer's hardware configuration.After set up has checked your hardware a blue screen will appear with the words 'Windows set up' in the top left hand corner.

 After all the files have been loaded into memory the Welcome To Set Up Window appears.

To begin installing XP Press Enter.The next screen to appear is the EULA (End user Licence Agreement) Press F8 to accept the licence or ESC if you don't want to accept the licence agreement and want to terminate the install.

After agreeing to the licence agreement set up searches your hard drive for any partitions.The next screen shows all the partitions on your hard drive. You may have just one or several depending upon whether you have created partitions prior to installing Windows XP.

You can select the partition you want to install XP on.  Once you have selected the partition press Enter.
The next window will offer to format the partition for you. If the partition is already formatted the option will be 'leave file format as it is.' If it hasn't been previously formatted then you will have the option to either:Usually Installation is made on C-Drive

 There are 4 methods to format they are 

    * Format the partition using the NTFS file system (Quick)
    * Format the partition using the FAT file system (Quick)
    * Format the partition using the NTFS file system
    * Format the partition using the FAT files system 

It is recommended that you use the NTFS file system so select 'Format the partition using the NTFS file system.Set up will now begin to format your hard drive.

 Once the drive has been formatted windows set up will start copying files to memory.

 Once the copying has been completed windows initialises your configuration and then proceeds to reboot your machine.

Note :Your system will now reboot.On reboot you will again be presented with 'Press any key to boot from CD' On this occasion DO NOT press any key. Leave well alone. Windows will then automatically launch. If you press any key during this process you will start the set up procedure all over again.

You will now see the Windows XP Graphical interface as windows loads.
Note: If your copy of XP does not include Service Pack 2 the Logo will look slightly different to the one illustrated below in as much as it will display Windows XP Home or Professional. As soon as you upgrade to Service Pack 2  (SP2) the Home/Professional branding will be removed.

At the next screen Windows will begin copying files to your hard drive.

As the files are installed on your hard drive you will be asked to select various options. The first to launch is the Regional and Language Options window

Click the Customise button to select your Country standards, language, etc. Click OK when you are satisfied with your selections.After you have completed that return to the original Regional and language Options window and click the Details button.

 From here you can set the default keyboard language. Click OK when finished.Now click the Next button.The next window asks for your name and company. Fill this in with the relevant details.

After completing the name and company dialogue boxes press Next.Now you are presented with the Product code number screen.

 Insert your product code numbers in the relevant boxes. Take your time here, as inserting the wrong number, will cause an error.After inserting the product code number press Next.Your next screen is the Computer and Administrator password screen.

 XP usually inserts a computer name but you can change it if you want something different.Next insert the Administrator password (you don't need to do this for XP Home Edition) and then confirm the password in the next dialogue box.Click Next to continue.The Date and Time Setting windows now appears.

 Select your Time Zone from the drop down time zone list and XP will make the other adjustments.Finally click the Next button.Windows now starts to install the Networking part of the operating system.

 Assuming you have a Networking Card installed the Networking Settings window will now pop up.The Typical Settings Option should already be selected so simply press the Next button

Unless you are on a Network or Domain you simply need to press the Next button If you are on a Network then click the Yes make this computer a member of the following domain and then click the Next  button. You may need to ask your administrator for these details.

 Windows will now continue copying files.After a while Windows will finalise the installation. The progress bar will show Completing Installation followed by Installing Start menu icons, registering Components, Saving Settings and, finally, Removing any temporary files used.

After finalisation Windows will again restart your pc.On reboot you will again be presented with 'Press any key to boot from CD' On this occasion DO NOT press any key. Leave well alone. Windows will then automatically launch. If you press any key during this process you will start the set up procedure all over again.You will now see the Windows Logo screen.

Once Windows has loaded it will adjust your monitors resolution. Just click OK to continue.Now you have successfully finished installing your XP on your computer.If you have any questions you can ask in comment section
