Gmail keyboard shortcuts cheat sheet.Everything is covered here, from Compose to Search, and many other shortcuts.


Gmail Shortcuts
KeyDefinitionAction
cCompose Allows you to compose a new message. + c allows you to compose a message in a new window.
then Send message After composing your message, use tdis combination to send it automatically. (Supported in Internet Explorer and Firefox, on Windows.)
kMove to newer conversation Opens or moves your cursor to a more recent conversation. You can hit to expand a conversation.
jMove to older conversation Opens or moves your cursor to the next oldest conversation. You can hit to expand a conversation.
nNext message Moves your cursor to the next message. You can hit to expand or collapse a message. (Only applicable in 'Conversation View.')
pPrevious message Moves your cursor to the previous message. You can hit to expand or collapse a message. (Only applicable in 'Conversation View.')
o or OpenOpens your conversation.Also expands or collapses a message if you are in 'Conversation View.'
uReturn to conversation list Refreshes your page and returns you to the inbox, or list of conversations.
y Archive*
Remove from current view
Automatically removes the message or conversation from your current view.
  • From 'Inbox,' 'y' means Archive
  • From 'Starred,' 'y' means Unstar
  • From any label, 'y' means Remove the label
* 'y' has no effect if you're in 'Spam,' 'Sent,' or 'All Mail.'
x Select conversation Automatically checks and selects a conversation so tdat you can archive, apply a label, or choose an action from the drop-down menu to apply to tdat conversation.
sStar a message or conversation Adds or removes a star to a message or conversation. Stars allow you to give a message or conversation a special status.
!Report spamMarks a message as spamand removes it from your conversation list.
rReply Reply to the message sender. + r allows you to reply to a message in a new window. (Only applicable in 'Conversation View.')
aReply all Reply to all message recipients. +a allows you to reply to all message recipients in a new window. (Only applicable in 'Conversation View.')
fForward Forward a message. + f allows you to forward a message in a new window. (Only applicable in 'Conversation View.')
Escape from input fieldRemoves the cursor from your current input field.
y then oArchive and nextclass="desc"Archive your conversation and move to the next one.
g then aGo to 'All Mail'Takes you to 'All Mail,' the storage site for all mail you've ever sent or received (and have not deleted).
g then sGo to 'Starred'Takes you to all conversations you have starred.
g then cGo to 'Contacts'Takes you to your Contacts list.
g then dGo to 'Drafts'Takes you to all drafts you have saved.
g then iGo to 'Inbox'Returns you to the inbox.
/SearchPuts your cursor in the search box.

Find the list of windows shortcut keys below

  1.  Windows Key + E
    Opens a new Explorer Window. Probably one of the hottest Windows keyboard shortcuts. This one gets a lot of hoorahs!
  2.  Windows Key
    Displays the Start Menu.
  3.  Windows Key + D
    Minimizes all windows and shows the Desktop.
  4.  Windows Key + D
    Opens all windows and takes you right back to where you were.
  5.  Windows Key + F
    Displays the Find all files dialog box.
  6.  Windows Key + L
    Lock your Windows XP computer.
  7.  Windows Key + M
    Minimizes all open windows.
  8.  Windows Key + Shift + M
    Restores all previously open windows to how they were before you Minimized them.
  9.  Windows Key + R
    Displays the Run command.
  10.  Windows Key + F1
    Displays the Windows Help menu.
  11.  Windows Key + Pause/Break
    Displays the Systems Properties dialog box.
  12.  Windows Key + Tab
    Cycle through the buttons on the Task Bar.
  13.  Windows Key + U
    Displays the Utility Manager with accessibility options; Magnifier, Narrator and On-Screen Keyboard.
  14. Alt + Tab
    Toggle (switch) between open windows.

Top 10 Firefox keyboard shortcuts

Below is a listing of our top 10 favorite Firefox keyboard shortcuts. Learning these shortcuts will greatly improve your productivity and overall experience with Mozilla Firefox.

Ctrl + T and middle-click

Pressing Ctrl + T will open a blank new tab or if you want to open any link in a new tab press your middle mouse button (often the scroll wheel) to open that link in a new tab.



Ctrl + Shift + T
Oops, close a tab you didn't want closed, simply press Ctrl + Shift + T to undo any tab close. Pressing this multiple times will undo multiple closes.

F6 : Quickly get to the URL address bar by pressing this function key.

Ctrl + F or /
Pressing Ctrl + F will open the find feature. Using this you can quickly find text within the same page. If you wish to do a quick find and have Firefox scroll to the text location as you type press forward slash (/) instead while in the browser.

Ctrl + W :Close the tab you're currently in.

Ctrl + Tab or Ctrl + Shift + Tab :Move between open tabs.

Ctrl + D : Open bookmark window for page currently viewing.

Ctrl + , Ctrl + , and Ctrl + 0

Pressing Ctrl + will increase the font size, pressing Ctrl + will decrease the font size, and if you wish to reset the font size back to the default press Ctrl + 0.

F11 : Make the screen full screen, removing all toolbars and status bars.

Ctrl + J : Open the Download Manager window.
